Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a Container

It depends on your local zoning laws. Most residential areas allow temporary container placement without a permit, but permanent placement or livable structures typically require one. We recommend checking with your county or municipality before ordering.

A "new" or one-trip container has been used once to ship goods internationally and is in near-perfect condition. Used containers (WWT or cargo-worthy) have seen more shipping cycles and may have surface rust or dents, but remain structurally sound and weatherproof.

We currently sell containers outright only — no rental or lease-to-own programs. This keeps things simple and means you own your container from day one.

Standard stock containers typically ship within 3–5 business days. Modified or custom-built containers take longer depending on the scope of work — we'll give you a clear timeline at the time of order.

Modifications

Absolutely — that's one of our specialties. We handle all modifications in-house before delivery. Submit your requirements with your quote request and we'll scope the work and price it out for you.

Yes, many of our customers do exactly that. We can insulate, wire, plumb, finish the interior, and install windows and doors. You'll still need to meet local building codes for habitable structures.

Simple modifications (doors, windows, basic electrical) typically take 1–2 weeks. Full interior builds can take 4–8 weeks. We'll give you a firm timeline with your quote.

Delivery

We use tilt-bed trucks for most deliveries, which allow the container to slide off the back without a crane. For tight spaces or upper placements, a crane or other equipment may be arranged at an additional cost.

The ground should be relatively flat and firm. Access roads need to be at least 12ft wide and 14ft tall. Soft ground may need timber sleepers or concrete pads placed beforehand.

We can arrange freight to Alaska and Hawaii, though additional costs and transit times apply. Contact us directly for a quote to those locations.

General

Steel shipping containers are extremely secure by design. We recommend adding a high-security lock box or shroud over the door hasps for additional theft deterrence.

Give us a call, or send an email. Let us know the container type, your delivery location, and any modifications and we'll get back to you fast.
